Additionally, Darjeeling is also known to produce one of the best Tea in the world. You will find major Buddhist influence in both of these hill stations which you can closely experience by visiting the Dro Dul Chorten Monastery of Gangtok and Japanese Peace Pagoda of Darjeeling. You can also relish in the local cuisine and try a number of street food delicacies by visiting the bustling local markets.
Get a chance to marvel at the majestic Kanchenjunga range from different angles as you visit multiple viewpoints like – Tashi view point, Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok – hilltop temples in Gangtok dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Lord Hanuman respectively. You will also witness one of the most beautiful from the Tiger Hill of Darjeeling over the peaks of Kanchenjunga Range which is beautifully painted by the shades of sunrise. The ropeway ride in Darjeeling is yet another way of witnessing the beauty of the surrounding Himalayas.
Apart from this, you will induge in border tourism by visiting the NathuLa pass which is the last checkpost on the Indo-China border in Sikkim. On the way to NathuLa Pass, you will visit the Tsomgo lake which is a revered site for Sikkimese people as the changing colours of the lake is used to foretell the future by the Buddhist Monks. Another prominent landmark on the way to Nathu La is Baba Mandir. This temple is dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh who was formally a part of Sikh Regiment posted here. According to the local legend, the spirit of Baba Harbhajan Singh protects the Indian Army till today and the Chinese troops have also reported spotting a soldier in turban several times.
As you visit the hill station of Darjeeling, your nose will tickle with the aromatic tea plantations. Here you will relieve some Bollywood movements as you embark on the one of a kind toy train ride in Darjeeling which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. This 2 hour long toy train right will start from Darjeeling, take a 25 minutes hault at Ghum railway station where you will visit the Ghum Railway museum and start your journey back to Darjeeling by taking a 10 minute hault at the famous Batasia Loop. Other sightseeing places of Darjeeling included in this trip package are the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and the Japanese Peace Pagoda of Darjeeling.
Day 1Arrival at Bagdogra Airport/ New Jalpaiguri Rly St (NJP). Transfer To Gangtok.+
On arrival at Bagdogra (IXB) Airport/ New Jalpaiguri (NJP), get greeted by our representative.
From here, you will board our vehicle for Gangtok.
En route, you will take a short stopover at the Triveni View Point, which is a confluence of Teesta and Rangeet rivers.
Enjoy your scenic drive to Gangtok through the meandering roads, along the Teesta River.
Visit MG Marg on your own in the evening.
Reach Gangtok, and Check-into your hotel for an overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 2Explore Around Gangtok. Tsomgo Lake | Baba Mandir | Nathula Pass(Optional).+
After breakfast, we will proceed for a full-day excursion around Gangtok.
We will start by visiting the glacial Tsomgo Lake also known as Changu Lake, known for its scenic beauty and changing colors.
Further, we drive towards the Baba Mandir, dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh who was a soldier of the Indian Army.
Next, you will hire a taxi to visit Nathula Pass, which is an Indo-China border post (subject to availability and additional cost as applicable).
Return back to Gangtok for an overnight stay.
Day 3Gangtok Local Sightseeing. Explore the best places in Gangtok.+
After having your breakfast at the hotel, get ready for local sightseeing in Gangtok.
We will start the day by visiting the Dro-Dul Chorten to seek the peaceful vibes of the monastery by listening to the chanting of prayers.
Next, we will take you to the Tashi View Point to admire the panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu Peaks.
You will then visit the hilltop temples called Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok which offer mesmerizing views of Gangtok city and the surrounding Kanchenjunga Range.
Conclude your day’s sightseeing by visiting the Ban Jhankri Falls which has a small park built around it, where you can unwind by indulging in adventure activities, relaxing by the falls, etc.
Return back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 4Gangtok to Darjeeling. Travel to the best Tea Gardens in the Country.+
Have your breakfast at the hotel in Gangtok and get ready for the day.
Today, we will transfer you to Darjeeling, one of the most beautiful hill stations in the Himalayas.
Travel through the curvy mountain roads with views of the mighty Himalayas in the background.
As you enter Darjeeling, the roads will be lined with aromatic Tea Plantations.
Reach your hotel in Darjeeling and check-in for an overnight stay.
Day 5Darjeeling Sightseeing Day | Explore the best places in this hill station.+
Today, your day will start early at 4 AM.
We will take you to the top of Tiger Hill to watch an amazing sunrise on Mt. Kanchenjunga and its adjoining peaks which change colors as painted by the morning sun rays.
Next, you will return back to the hotel and have your breakfast.
Later, we will take you for the famous toy train ride of Darjeeling, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This 2-hrs train ride will start from Darjeeling, take a 25 mins stop at Ghum Station and then return back to Darjeeling via Batasia Loop.
The train will stop for 10 mins at Batasia Loop which is also an Army Memorial dedicated to the Gorkha Regiment, from where you can admire 360-degree panoramic view of the Darjeeling hill station lined with Himalayan peaks.
Upon completing the toy train ride, we will then take you to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), which also houses the Tenzing Rock to understand the history of mountaineering in India.
Next, you will visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Thursday closed) to get a glimpse of the Red Pandas (endangered specie) and other Himalayan animals.
Later, we will take a small ropeway ride over the lush green tea plantations and the surrounding views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks.
Conclude your sightseeing by visiting the Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda, where you can sit and meditate for a while in its serene atmosphere.
Return back to the hotel for an overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Day 6Departure. Darjeeling to Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Station.+
Wakeup to a beautiful morning in Darjeeling and have your breakfast at the hotel.
Later, board your transfer to Bagdogra Airport(IXB)/ New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP).
Your tour concludes once you are dropped off at the airport/ railway station for your onward journey.
Board your train/flight back home with fantastic trip memories.
